A few days late reporting a small loss – now down to 98kg. Steady progress although slower than I’d like. More lettuce anyone?

Progress continues – albeit slowly. Another half a kg with the scales showing 98.5. Let’s see if I can continue so that I can put a little more on when Christmas comes without bursting out of my clothes!

If you’ve got an hour to spare and have some IT skills then take a look at the following website (click here). A great idea to allow anyone with some IT skills to give sometime to the local community.

A little disappointing this week, 99kg. Still, it’s a loss of half a kg so I should be pleased. Being honest, I did indulge a little with friends and family so it’s my fault. But if I can continue the slow progress I’ll be happy. The problem at the moment is that I’m working from home producing websites and writing training material so the temptation to snack is always there. When at the office I’m away from the goodies and, surprisingly, I don’t miss them. More willpower is the secret.
Random browsing through the blogs brought me one about apple tart. Now, I love apple tart and I just happen to have some pastry and apples waiting to be used. I’ll need to go and get some apricot jam but that’s all for later. Once I’ve finished delaying work by writing this blog!

Well, a good start. Now 99.5kg. That’s a kg down from last week which I think is good progress. Slow but sure. Now, will it continue? I haven’t really been eating carrots all week but I have cut down on the booze and snacks. It’s also saved me a little bit of money so I’m quite pleased. More diet news next week.

Now that I’ve got a little more time on my hands I’ve decided to watch my weight a little more effectively. When I was working full time it was easy to skip a meal and keep to a reasonably steady, if over, weight. Since my semi retirement involves being next to a kitchen it makes snacking too easy therefore something must be done! I think that the various diet clubs etc work well because it’s the public humiliation of not losing weight that drives the dieter (well it would for me) so I think that this semi-public blog should work just as well. I’ll report on my hoped for bulk reduction each week starting now. My graceful bulk weighed in at 100.5 kg this morning so let’s see what it is next week.

I was watching The Gadget Show this lazy Sunday morning when they mentioned a term new to me i.e. Steampunk. The challenge for the team was to reproduce a famous novel in modern gadget driven form and this is where the term Steampunk was mentioned. It’s a genre that encompasses science fiction, fantasy and late Victorian technology i.e. when the world was driven by steam. I’m not a reader of comic books but I am of Victorian engineering so I found the technology to bring them to life absolutely fantasic. It make me realise, once again, that I have no artistic skills whatsoever.
See here for more info on Steampunk. Here for the Gadget Show (you need series 16, part 6)
